TEAM MOKSHA PRESENTS

MOKSHA -5 Year Anniversary Gathering
08 AUGUST 2026 | VALHALLA, WELLINGTON

Tickets here

Five years.

Honestly, it's hard to believe.

What started as a small dream between a few friends has grown into something far bigger than we ever imagined.

Over the last five years, we've shared dancefloors, sunsets, sunrises, laughter, hugs, friendships, and countless unforgettable moments together. We've watched strangers become friends, friends become family, and a community grow around a shared love for music, connection, and freedom.

Our recent gathering, AARANYA , reminded us once again how special this community truly is. Seeing so many beautiful souls come together, dancing under the open sky, sharing smiles and creating memories, filled our hearts with gratitude.

To every artist who has played our stages.
To every volunteer who has helped behind the scenes.
To every person who bought a ticket, shared a post, invited a friend, or danced with us until sunrise...

THANK YOU !

Team Moksha wouldn't exist without you.

As we step into our fifth year, we wanted to celebrate this milestone together.

On Saturday, 08 August, we return to Valhalla Wellington for a special anniversary gathering.

No egos.
No expectations.

Just good music, good people, and the energy that happens when our community comes together as one.

Expect a carefully curated journey through sound, immersive visuals, and the unmistakable atmosphere that has always made Moksha feel like home.

Whether you've been with us since day one or you're about to join us for your very first event, this night is for you.

Let's celebrate five years of music, friendship, growth, and community.

And let's create a few more memories together.

We can't wait to see your faces on the dancefloor again.

With love,

Team Moksha

Five years later, the music still calls us together.
Welcome home.

Rivers Of Nihil - NZ tour

Pennsylvanias progressive death metal progenitors Rivers of Nihil make their first voyage to Aotearoa New Zealand.

The quartets musicianship has been honed to a fine point thanks to an unrelenting touring schedule over the past few years, including headline tours of the U.S. and EU/UK, as well as touring with Cattle Decapitation, Carnifex, Lorna Shore, Between the Buried and Me, and touring with titans of progressive death metal Cynic, Beyond Creation, and Dååth.

Life on the road for Rivers is a treat for fans and band members alike. For the most part, its very mellow, with a lot of laughs and a lot of ball-busting. Andy (Guitar, Vocals), and I have been friends for over 15 years, and Jared (Drums) has been in the fold since 2017 says founding member/guitarist Brody Uttley. Founding bassist Adam Biggs became the bands new lead vocalist/bassist in 2023, which upped the ante and led to the release of self-titled album Rivers of Nihil (2025). Traditionally, a self-titled record can signal a return to basics and/or a fresh beginning, and in 10 powerful songs, its clear that both those factors are in play. I feel like these songs are the perfect blend of all our albums, with all the fat cut away, says Uttley.

River of Nihil have riffs, big choruses, the prog, the solos, the sax and now it will have Aotearoa New Zealand

STRUNG OUT (USA) RETURN FOR FULL-BLOWN NZ TOUR —PERFORMING
SUBURBANTEENAGEWASTELANDBLUES IN FULL

Tickets Available here!

Strung Out tore through NZ in 2023, and you lapped it up. You loved them, and they loved
you—so much so that they’re returning this September for a full-blown New Zealand tour, hitting
four locations across both the North and South Island.

And this time, they’re bringing something special.

To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of SUBURBANTEENAGEWASTELANDBLUES, Strung Out
will be playing the album in its entirety.

One of punk’s holy grails, it’s fast, ferocious, and
precise—a record that helped define the genre and influenced generations of bands that
followed.

Released in 1996, SUBURBANTEENAGEWASTELANDBLUES pushed the boundaries of the
genre—faster, sharper, and more intricate than anything that came before. Three decades on, it
still hits hard, and hearing it played live, front to back, is an experience no self-respecting punk
fan can miss.

Hailing from Simi Valley, California, Strung Out are long-standing punk rock royalty and one of
Fat Wreck Chords’ defining “big four.” With decades of touring under their belts, they have a
proven track record of igniting crowds and delivering high-octane, full-throttle punk shows.

Expect a night of relentless energy: razor-sharp riffs, pounding drums, and shout-along
choruses delivered with force.

This is controlled chaos at its best: sweat-soaked rooms, ringing
ears, and intensity that pulls you right in.

Last time Strung Out were here, shows sold out. This run will be no different.

Don’t sleep on it, or you’ll miss it.

Sidewinder - Planet Hunter, Courtnay And The Unholy Reverie

Sidewinder return to Wellington, fresh from their recent support slot for Slomosa, this time taking the lead alongside two of Aotearoa’s most gloriously loud heavy bands.

Wellington’s own Sidewinder have carved out a formidable place in the local heavy scene, fusing riff-heavy psych, swamp-drenched delta blues, and southern stoner rock into a sound that is unmistakably their own. Their latest release Feed the Beast was noted as one of best new NZ releases by none other than Rolling Stone Magazine
“Feed the Beast captures Sidewinder at full power, blending bone-dry stoner-doom swagger with a swamp-soaked sound that is unmistakably their own.” – Rolling Stone

Listen: https://sidewindernz.bandcamp.com/

Joining them are Planet Hunter, four middle-aged mystics from Aotearoa’s damp green underbelly, forged in Wellington’s mould-stained back alleys. Their musty, heavy riffs feel like decades of rain, rot, and revelation distilled into sound.

Also appearing, Courtnay & The Unholy Reverie emerge from the heart of Taranaki with a hypnotic blend of swamp blues, soul, and rock — raw, electric, and ritualistic. Their live show is less performance, more invocation: an invitation to lose yourself in something dark, intoxicating, and unforgettable.

Mortal Sin - NZ tour

FOR THE FIRST TIME IN NEW ZEALAND — AUSTRALIAN THRASH LEGENDS MORTAL SIN

Having toured alongside thrash heavyweights Metallica and Testament in their early years, Mortal Sin forged their legacy in the global metal scene from the very beginning. Formed in 1985, they carved their name into the foundations of thrash with a ferocious, high-energy sound that stood shoulder to shoulder with the genre’s elite.

After years of silence, the band has reformed — returning to the stage with the same intensity and aggression that made them icons of the era.

This marks their first ever shows on New Zealand soil, and the timing couldn’t be more fitting — celebrating 40 years of their debut album Mayhemic Destruction, a landmark release that helped define Australian metal and continues to influence generations.

Joining them on all dates are New Zealand’s own Bulletbelt, delivering their uncompromising, relentless live assault.

Three nights. No filler. Pure thrash.

KING PARROT : Wellington NZ @ Valhalla w/- Slave Cadaver + Postnatal Abortion + Maced
FRIDAY JULY 17!
Tickets on sale now! via UTR

King Parrot are pleased to announce their return to New Zealand to launch the blistering new album A Young Persons Guide to King Parrot. Described as a hostile and abrasive slab of sensory destroying anthems, the record features ten thoroughly crafted blasts through the psyche of this crazed Aussie quintet. Recorded at Melbourne’s Dangertone studios with engineer Luke Walton, it’s the first full-length album since 2017’s critically adored Ugly Produce offering and their first new music since 2020’s Holed Up In The Lair EP. Pulling the new songs together was a meticulously creative endeavour and the final product is the most complete, aggressive, and urgent the band has ever sounded.

The band have been in full throttle touring mode since the release in early 2025 and are currently out on a massive 39 date jaunt through the USA alongside Gwar and Soulfly. Much of the last year was spent touring the globe in support of Pantera all over Europe, the UK and the USA where King Parrot amassed performing exactly 100 shows for the year. New Zealand fans can expect a band that is firing on all cylinders and awaiting their first shows in NZ in many years, comments vocalist Matt Young "It's been a while between drinks but we were most certain that we must return to NZ this year and give you guys a dose of King Parrot! We cant wait to get back and see our kiwi mates and bring our brand of off the kilter grind, thrash and punk rock chaos, get your tickets now and well see you real soon!"

Tragedies 'Taupiri' single release show

Join Wellington trip-hop trio Tragedies in celebrating the release of their upcoming single 'Taupiri'. Coming from the reo Maori word for 'a loving embrace', Taupiri is a queer love song for the end of the world that celebrates the small moments of bliss carved out of dark times. Tragedies' blend of trip-hop, alt-rock and post-punk explores the overlap of beauty and horror with ethereal harmonies, haunting melodies and moments of heavy industrial grit that invite the listener to be vulnerable and revel in the tragedies and triumphs of life.

Joined by screaming grunge-folk icon Diplopoda and alt-rock knock outs Hit Me playing tracks from their new EP 'The Trial', the evening promises to be a tragic night to remember. Be ready for a night of emotional carnage and smudged eyeliner.

Welcomer 'Calendars' release tour w/ Belladonna & King Hit

Welcomer are embarking on their first nationwide headline tour to celebrate the release of their debut album Calendars, out June 12 via trusted DIY stalwarts, Papaiti Records.

Calendars follows a string of European shows in 2025 and a self titled EP which was described by Under the Radar as ‘melancholic splendour.. in swirls of harmonious goodness, each packed with presence and perfectly placed’. Single Nothing of You Remaining was described by Rolling Stone AU as “blending folk influences with strings for a warm, layered pop sound”.

https://welcomer.bandcamp.com/album/calendars

Joined in Pōneke by Belladonna and King Hit

Belladonna is the musical project of Bella Cook, a songwriter with a well-honed knack for musical storytelling, capturing the quirk and romance of everyday life. The debut Belladonna album, Arcus Way, was released in 2025 - a stunning collection of sharp and affecting songs with paired back arrangements.

https://belladonnamusicnz.bandcamp.com/album/arcus-way

King Hit is a Pōneke-based four piece melding the abrasiveness of shoe-gaze and punch of hardcore with the melancholy of Midwest-emo. Originally conceived as a three-piece by principal songwriter, guitarist and frontman Stefan Jenkins, King Hit cut their teeth in the Wellington underground scene for the first half of 2025 before adding Caitlin Gabb on guitar and vocals, joining bassist Felix Bird and drummer Sebastian Bell as architects of the band’s formidable wall of noise.

Movement (Second Edition)

Edgy music for edgy people.

Alternative sounds of the Eighties and beyond to make you move.

Your host is DJ Matai, known for sets spanning vintage goth, new wave and post-punk. Expect to hear the classic and the obscure. Not only a selector, but a genuine alternative music fanatic, he is also known for running Razored Raw and drumming in bands such as No Sector and Maced.

Joined by guests:

DJ Nightmare: Three decades deep and still dragging the dancefloor into the dark — DJ Nightmare is a fixture of the scene and a genuine authority on all things goth, post-punk, industrial, cold wave, new romantic, angular electronic, neo goth and synth pop, with a blast beat or two thrown in for the brave. Known to his people as Ol' Nighty, he has spent years as a promoter, radio host, and noise terrorist, and every set carries that hard-won knowledge: equal parts floor-filler and deep-cut excavation, crafted to pull even the most committed wallflowers out of the shadows. Expect the unexpected. Expect the dark, Expect to dance.

DJ Shade is an 80s deep-cut enthusiast. Digging up rare gems from New Zealand alongside obscure B-sides that span electro, new wave, post punk dancefloor cuts. Expect a carefully curated set of grooves and underground energy guaranteed to move the floor. Beyond the decks, Shade is also an active musician, performing in bands such as Whirlwind and The Mermmen.

HOICK.
Valhalla
Doors - 8PM
$20

Forged late in the year 2020, deep in the bowels of Tauranga, New Zealand, the band HOICK brewed and spewed forth their very own unique brand of audio pollution to the world.

Though developed by nefarious means the groups yield from their riff farm has been inducing the stank face of approval from gig goers Island wide since the bands inception, and with their debut self titled album "HOICK" set to be released to the public April 3rd 2026, followed closely by an album release tour, the trio's distortion worship only looks to gain greater occupancy in the ears of true believers this year.

The three mix fast chaotic punk chordage with sections of slower, heavier more experimental sections of noise therapy. Think if the Bad Brains faster punky songs smoked some Black Sabbath but then got hit by a car crossing the road driven by Fugazi.

Catch the wreckage in a town near you soon and come celebrate an N.Z made musical release we can all be ashamed of.

Grab a copy of HOICK’s debut album on vinyl from Bandcamp or stream via on your favorite streaming service.

TEST (Brazilian Grindcore) w/ Wince & Vortekke

Couldn’t be more thrilled to present legendary DIY grindcore band TEST touring throughout the North Island of New Zealand for the first time this June.

Come see TEST Wednesday 10th at Wellingtons finest venue - Valhalla. Joined by the terrible twins of Vorteke and Wince.

For the uninitiated, TEST is a Brazilian duo formed in 2010 by João Kombi (guitar and vocals) and Barata (drums), two veterans of São Paulo’s underground scene. Known for their intense live performances, notable collaborations with artists like Iggor Cavalera and Deafkids, and a fearless musical approach, the band has established itself as one of the most inventive names in the Brazilian alternative scene.

From the deathgrind band initially known for playing outside of major heavy metal concerts, fueled by a old school VW van-powered generator, Test has gone a long way since 2011, when the band started playing on the streets. Since then, the band has shared stages - inside the venue this time, be it as opening band or headlining - with artists such as Mr Bungle, King Diamond, Napalm Death, Carcass, Cannibal Corpse, Exodus e Brujeria, Mayhem, Mortician, Dillinger Escape Plan, to name a few. Speaking of name-dropping, some famous Test fans include Shane Embury, Napalm Death’s bass player, and the brothers Max and Iggor Cavalera - Iggor, by the way, has chosen Test’s drummer on the top 10 drummers of all time.

Aside from performing with well-know heavy metal artists, Test also took part in two of the major extreme music festivals worldwide: “Obscene Extreme”, in the Czech Republic and Mexico, and “Maryland Deathfest”, in the US. With a steady recording and playing live pace, Test turns sixteen years old with 19 albums (full-lenghts, EPs and split-album with bands from different parts of the world, like Nepal [Chepang], U.S.A. [Cloud Rat, Ixias] and China [Struggle Session]), two feature films, more than ten thousand records sold and more than one thousand shows in all states of Brazil, as well as twenty one foreign tours (Asia, Europe, North America and South America).

Tickets available from Undertheradar.co.nz Presales only $20.
