Slow Rage x Park Flyers NZ Tour

Park Flyers is an Alternative Emo duo formed by Felix Bird (guitar & vocals) and Ezra Beckett (drums, keys & vocals), both originating from Tauranga New Zealand. Beginning as a side project in 2021, Park Flyers have since moved down to Wellington in February 2024, quickly cementing their spot in the underground music scene.

Their sound is defined by a refusal to compromise, charismatic guitar, driving arpeggios, and blasted vocals which all hovers somewhere between 90s nostalgia and heartfelt screaming.

Slow Rage are an Auckland-based alternative rock duo blending melodic intensity with punk urgency. Taking cues from the emotional drive of Paramore and the stripped-back ferocity of early IDLES, their sound is tight, loud, and confrontational without losing hooks.

On stage, Slow Rage delivers a huge sounding, high-energy live show built around distorted guitar and relentless drums. The duo thrive on tension, volume, and crowd movement, turning small stages into an event.

Guitar Wolf Rules of Rock and Roll
FIrst ... Band has to have looks
Second ... Fighting spirit
Third ... ACTION!
THere is no fourth or fifth
SIXTH ... Technique
Stir people hearts and your own !!

Tokyo masters of rock&roll mayhem. 30 years young & the foot ain’t ever come off that car crash accelerator pedal. Still swerving, dead man curving, burnin’ out & danger driftin’. Link Wray overdriven guitar rumble fuzz & feedback, Joan Jett warm leatherette aesthetic obsession, locomotive rockabilly rhythms & early Ramones punk chunk thump. Noise, hiss & drone co-opted from fellow Japanese sound assault merchants High Rise & Mainliner. It’s a sonic rendezvous designed to cave in heads & destroy frequencies, while yr dancing yr ass off on that road to oblivion…. Mr Slackjaw

"There are garage-rock bands, and then there’s Tokyo terrors Guitar Wolf... This band’s style of rock’n’roll demands more imposing prefixes, like “jet,” “hurricane,” and “Kawasaki ZII 750.” Much as 1960s British Invasion groups bastardized the blues and sold it back to American teens, Guitar Wolf have spent the past 30(+) years making once-rebellious Stateside sounds—surf, rockabilly, Nuggets, CBGB punk—seem dangerous again, forsaking retro purism for monomania. Your typical garage band might make your ears ring; this one kills zombies." - Pitchfork

GLM (1985) + Texture, Noyer & Whaea G b2b Ohimesama Breaks (CUBA DUPA FUNDRAISER #`1)

*CUBA DUPA FUNDRAISER #1 - ALL PROCEEDS TO GO TOWARDS VALHALLA @ CUBA DUPA*

Pōneke, we’ve got another one for you…

Ghost Media Presents:GLM (1985/Flexout/Incurzion)
+ Support from Texture, Noyer, Whaea G & Ohimesama Breaks

Get ready to party with Bristol’s finest!
We’ve invited GLM over to lay down his signature flavour of UK bass in Aotearoa for the first time.
Since his first release in 2023, GLM has curated a sound that incorporates elements of dnb, garage, dubstep, grime, and jungle, releasing music on respected independent labels including Incurzion Audio, Helix, Kojiki, Sub:stance Recordings, and 1985 Music. GLM’s sound has received radio support on networks like BBC Radio 1, Kiss FM, and Rinse FM, and he has performed widely across club circuits in the UK. A true don on the tools, we’re excited to welcome him as he showcases his production sound at Valhalla.

On support, we have an all-star lineup including TEXTURE, joining us from Ōtautahi for the first time since 2021.
We’ve been looking for an excuse to bring Texture up for a while, and this felt like a perfect opportunity. A purveyor of a unique sound that elicits an emotional response, fusing elements of bass, breakbeat, jungle and techno, Texture is well-seasoned, having opened for some serious artists including Addison Groove, Machinedrum, Ben UFO and Alix Perez. We can’t wait to host her for the first time either!

From the local sphere, we’ve pulled out the big guns. On opening duties we have NOYER, a man we can always trust to get the floor rocking. One half of Garage Sale, Noyer has been a staple of the capital’s underground dance music scene for the whole of the 2020s. To close out the night in style, we’ve got a blockbuster back to back of two of the capital’s finest jungle selectors - WHAEA G & OHIMESAMA BREAKS. If either of those names are familiar to you, you’ll have some idea of the levels that are about to be effected.

As is standard, we’ve got BANSHEE SOUNDSYSTEM on ear and chest rattling duties. Come on!

Finally, we just want to mention that this event is a fundraiser for our Valhalla stage at Cuba Dupa. So buy a ticket and help support us for the biggest free party of the year!

SUMAC

Banished Music, Whammy Bar, and Valhalla are proud to present the long-awaited New Zealand debut of experimental post-metal trio SUMAC.
Formed in 2014, the powerhouse trio comprised of Aaron Turner (guitar, vocals; Isis, Old Man Gloom), Brian Cook (bass; Russian Circles, Botch), and Nick Yacyshyn (drums; Baptists) are renowned for merging crushing heaviness with improvisational freedom, exploring the boundaries between structure and chaos.

SUMAC have built a reputation as a fearsome live band. Visceral and cathartic shows where crushing riffs & sprawling drones collide with extended bursts of wild improvisation. In 2024, the band released their critically acclaimed album The Healer, a sweeping, transformative work spanning four monumental tracks. The record dives deep into themes of regeneration, suffering, and spiritual reconstruction — a testament to the band’s ability to meld raw power with emotional depth.

The experimental metal trio’s four-song, 76-minute album is the peak of their career. It’s dense and invigorating, highlighting the band’s dexterity, creativity, and clarity of purpose. - Pitchfork

Soon after the release SUMAC teamed up with poet and sound artist Moor Mother to release The Film, a boundary-pushing collaborative album. Released via Thrill Jockey in April 2025, the record unfolds as a cinematic journey across eight “scenes,” merging SUMAC’s heavy, jazz-inflected textures with Moor Mother’s incisive spoken-word commentary.

SUMAC’s work has always been about transition between different states of being. Our sense of normal, and indeed our sense of life, is now being shaken. We don’t know what is coming next. We are looking for pointers towards the future, as well as things to hold onto in the moment.
New Zealanders, don’t miss this rare and powerful journey into uncharted sonic terrain.
